Pickford Public Schools is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Kyle Rairigh as the new Superintendent of Pickford Public Schools. A graduate of Pickford and a seasoned educational leader, he brings over two decades of experience, a passion for student success, and a strong connection to the Pickford community.
After graduating from Pickford High School in 1999, he earned a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Arts Education and Physical Education from Northern Michigan University. His early career began in Romulus Public Schools before he returned to the U.P. to teach Industrial Arts at Brimley Area Schools, where he also completed his Master’s in Educational Administration through Central Michigan University.
In 2016, he rejoined PPS as the Middle/High School Principal and later transitioned into the Elementary Principal role in 2023. His leadership across grade levels, combined with a unique blend of experiences in both large and small districts, makes him well prepared to guide PPS into its next chapter. He deeply values the close-knit nature of K-12 schools, sharing: “It’s amazing to watch student mentoring happen in our buildings. I love that in a small district, you get to see kids grow throughout all their school years.”
With a leadership philosophy rooted in relationship-building, collaboration, and community pride, he is eager to step into this role alongside the students and staff he knows so well.,” he says. “I’m excited to listen, learn, and lead, and to keep supporting the people who make this community so special.”
His first-year vision is clear: “I want to be part of the team to continue to make PPS the best place to go to school for students and also for staff!” He looks forward to building on the district’s strong foundation, fostering collaboration, and creating new opportunities that will help Pickford continue to grow and thrive.
An outdoor enthusiast, loyal Ohio State fan, and devoted family man, he is eager to be an active presence at school and community events, engaging directly with students, staff, and families. He also brings a lighthearted touch to his role, an interesting fact about Mr. Rairigh is that thanks to being color blind, his wardrobe choices may occasionally be… unique, and he welcomes the good-natured responses that comes with it.
