The new Grade 6-12 Principal at Pickford Public Schools is a familiar face. Our long time social studies teacher Matt Johnson is taking on a new role in 2023. Mr. Johnson joined the Pickford staff during the 2008-2009 school year after being hired by Mr. Neil Harrison. Mr. Johnson graduated from Northern Michigan University with a double major in Social Studies and English Secondary Education, and obtained his Master's Degree from NMU in Education Administration & Supervision. In addition to his teaching duties, Mr. Johnson has served as National Honor Society advisor, a member of District Leadership Team, a member of the PBIS Team, a member of the District Safety Team, the varsity boys basketball coach, the coordinator of our Veterans Day program, the founding advisor of the Pickford Speech & Debate Team, and several other roles. Mr. Johnson has asked to thank all of his students, past and present, for their support and the great memories. You are always welcomed home at Pickford Public Schools! Meet Mr. Johnson New 6-12th Grade Principal
Hello, Most of you know me as the MS/HS Principal here at PPS. I am excited to be moving to a new role of Elem. Principal here in the fall and join the amazing elementary staff. I look forward to working with students and parents alike in this new role! I am also excited to be working with Mr. Johnson as he takes on the role of MS/HS Principal. Some background about me: I am a 1999 PPS graduate. I went to Northern Michigan University and got my Education degree in Industrial Arts and Physical Education. I then taught at Brimley for 12 years while getting my K-12 administration degree from Central Michigan University. I then have spent the past 7 years here at PPS serving as a Principal. I love spending time outside, especially a day on the boat fishing with family and friends, and following all PPS athletics. I look forward to the opportunity to serve our community in a new role. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns. Kyle Rairigh krairigh@eupschools.org
