Important information for new 9th Grade students and their parents.

Prepare for your Freshman Year

Freshman Orientation: The orientation is scheduled at the end of the 8th grade school year. It is a great opportunity for parents and students to prepare for the upcoming school year. The meeting will cover important information, complete necessary forms, and answer questions you may have for us. It is expected to last about 30 minutes.

Actionable Items for Secondary Parents: 

 • Encourage your child to get involved in extra-curricular activities (athletics, drama, music, dance, foreign language, community service, photography, science, technology, robotics), and attend events to demonstrate your support. 

• Support your child in getting involved in mentoring and career exploration and career shadowing experiences. 

• Be active and visible in school, and Communicate regularly with each of your child’s teachers. 

• Use technology resources to monitor your child’s grades and assignments.

Immunizations: Ensure your vaccines are up-to-date. The Michigan Health Department requires all 9th grades to be up-to-date on all vaccines or a waiver submitted to the school for vaccine exemptions. Please contact the Chippewa County Health Department or your Medical Care Provider to schedule an appointment.
