Title VI Coordinator/ELA/Online

Hello Panther Family! My name is Daraka Hudecek and I am so excited to be a part of Pickford Public School! I graduated from Sault Area High School and Lake Superior State University, with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Minor in Human Resource Management. After spending many years working in Accounting and Finance, I decided to return to LSSU to study Literature with a concentration in Creative Writing. I began teaching in 2019 and obtained my Teacher Certification in English 6-12.

Title VI Program

In addition to teaching, I am the Coordinator of the Title VI  Program at Pickford Public Schools. The Title VI Coordinator in Michigan Public Schools plays a crucial role in ensuring compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which prohibits discrimination based on race, color, or national origin in any program or activity receiving federal financial assistance.

Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 is a federal law that protects individuals and groups from discrimination on the basis of their race, color, and national origin in programs and activities that receive federal financial assistance. It prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, or national origin in any program or activity that receives Federal funds or other Federal financial assistance. The law also applies to programs for the provision of nutrition and supportive services for Native Americans.

When not in the classroom I am working on training, and education, including cultural awareness and activities, community engagement, and support services. My goal is to create a safe and equitable environment for all students.
