Mrs. Michelle Furest
I am excited to be a part of Pickford's Elementary School staff. This year will mark my 24th year as an elementary educator!
I graduated from Valparaiso University with a Bachelors in Music Education. I then went on to earn three masters degrees in elementary education and administration. I have taught in elementary classrooms in New York City, Chicago, and in the Detroit area. In 2013, I moved to the Upper Peninsula to get married. It was at that time I began teaching fourth grade for Tahquamenon Area Schools. I spent my last year in Newberry serving as their Math Intervention Specialist and Student Assistance Team Coordinator. Most recently, I taught fourth grade for Sault Area Schools. All of these experiences have allowed me to grow professionally so that I can be more effective as a teacher.
I live in Hessel with my husband. I have two stepchildren, Addisyn and Billy, and my two boys, Joshua and Jacob. Billy and Josh recently graduated from Northern Michigan University and live in Traverse City. Jacob will be entering his junior year of college at Michigan State. Addisyn is excited to return to school this year as a proud third grader. . All four of them keep me very busy, and I am proud to be their mom!
