Hi! I’m Ms. Ormsbee
Welcome to KINDERGARTEN at Pickford Schools!
Teaching and learning is an absolute dream and love of mine. I am so grateful to work with you and your child this KINDERGARTEN year! I know we all come together with a variety of feelings as we greet the new school year, especially this year, but please be assured, I already love your child and respectfully accept the gift of learning with them!
My Time in the Pickford Learning Community:
I am honored to be a small part of our Pickford community of learners for 11 years. I treasured my 8 years of learning with littles at the C.C.S.S./ Pickford Wee Wisdom Preschool Program teacher-- I loved my time learning with parents and families during this exciting start to a student’s school experience as an early childhood educator. Six years ago, as the third grade teacher, it was a leap in experiencing the maturity and leadership of older students, many moments of celebrated learning and growth as they “leapt” into the “big kid” role. I am pleased to be teaching as part of the Pickford Team and delighted to be in the kindergarten role for the past five years—I am honored to be teaching! It is going to be a year full of learning, adventure and I am thrilled to be doing it together! Although I am anxious about many of the changes to focus on keeping students and families safe, I am so pleased for the chance to learn face to face.
A little About Ms. Ormsbee:
*I thought you may want to learn a little bit about me.*
I live on a small hobby farm in Sault Ste. Marie. My favorite color is… green. I have a silly sense of humor and I feel especially pleased if I am able to add a smile to someone’s face. We have three busy boys, Brandon who is 18 and working in the HVAC field. He loves motocross, baseball (go Tigers), and raising/ showing livestock. Scotty who is 15 and a freshman. He loves to do anything outside, especially raising his 20 plus goats, driving anything with wheels and helping around the farm. Kyle is 12 and in 6th grade. He loves anything orange, moving fast on anything, swimming, and helping out on the farm. When my classroom, boys and critters aren’t keeping me busy, I love to be outdoors, spending time floating on the river, watching anything on the Hallmark Channel and read (and perhaps, sneak in a nap). My undergraduate experiences came from a small variety of coursework including NCMC, GVSU completing my degree with Spring Arbor University with a major in elementary education as well as minors in Science, Early Childhood and Language Arts. I have a Master’s Degree in the Art of Teaching with an emphasis in Reading and Literacy from Marygrove University. I have always enjoyed working with children and am blessed with some great learning experiences together.
This is So Exciting!
I am looking forward to our year together!
We have so much planned and I can’t wait to get to know you and your family. It is so exciting to see what the school year has in store for us! We are all partners in your kindergartener’s learning. Please, if you have a question, ask. Our classroom community is one in which we all become a “kinder-family”—you are an important part as well!
More information will be following soon in regards to my classroom policies and procedures. The next few days/ weeks, there will be a great deal of information passed along to you. Please, do not fret about supplies – what you are able to do is appreciated. I encourage you to take a breath, get a hug when needed, celebrate this delightful milestone for your kinder and celebrate the work and guidance you and your family have done to guide your sweetie to this point—look at them soar into steps of independence!
*The first week(s) can be a bit overwhelming, thank you for your patience as we all guide one another through this transition process.
Just a gentle reminder-- for the first month or so, your kinder will probably come home exhausted and hungry-- it is a long day! Try to be flexible with their bedtime-- I have no doubt most will be ready to snuggle in at 7 pm, and they will be eating everything in sight-- this transition takes a lot of energy for little bodies!
